Floor and Wall Penetrations – St. George Leagues Club

Project Overview

Perfect Concrete Care was engaged by McCann Construction & Property P/L to deliver a detailed cutting and coring package at St. George Leagues Club. The scope included multiple floor and wall penetrations completed within a confined work zone as part of the venue’s refurbishment program.

Scope of Works

The team was tasked with creating a total of seven concrete panels — four through the slab and three through the walls — along with a number of core holes for service penetrations.

Due to the nature of the site, the work required exceptional accuracy and control. The use of overcuts was not permitted, meaning every cut had to be executed precisely to preserve the surrounding structure. To achieve this, our operators core-drilled each corner of the openings before completing the final cuts.

Methodology

To complete the job safely and efficiently, Perfect Concrete Care used:

• High-frequency electric saws for precision cutting in confined spaces
• Core drilling to establish clean, accurate corners and eliminate overcuts
• Propping systems to support concrete panels from below during removal

Working in a tight-access environment required careful planning and coordination between all parties. Every step—from cutting to handling and removal—was executed with strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Challenges and Solutions

One of the key challenges was the limited workspace, which demanded a meticulous approach to equipment setup and operator positioning. Despite these constraints, the team successfully managed to:

• Maintain structural integrity throughout all penetrations
• Complete the work on schedule and to specification
• Deliver a clean, controlled finish across all openings

Outcome

The project was delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with client specifications. Each penetration was completed with clean edges, no overcuts, and minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
