Our experienced team members have recently completed Concrete Coring works for our client Gartner Rose at Leura Train Station. The scope of work was to drill a core hole of 200mm depth in the platform roof wall.
Our team members had an initial meeting with our client’s representatives on-site, to discuss the full scope of work. The client had already marked out where they needed the core hole drilled. It had been pre-scanned for services prior to the commencement of works.
The prerequisites of these works required the RIW (Rail Industry Worker) induction and Working at Heights. Our team members already had these, for we constantly up-skill our workforce.
Firstly, our team members unloaded all equipment onto the site and established the core drill and stand. They then used our Hilti TE70 Combi-Hammer to drill the wall and install the dyna bolt. Once they installed the dyna bolt, they moved on to the installation of our Husqvarna drill stand. As this was a horizontal core, it would require a stand to ensure a level hole was drilled.
Once the drill stand was installed in the correct position, our team members then attached our Husqvarna DM650 core drill to the stand and installed the 102mm barrel. Once the drill and stand were in place, they then set up our Makinex Hose2u water pump to supply the drill and keep the diamond barrel cool. This self-contained water pump can hold up to 40L and does not require a power source. Our team members then set up our Tyrolit Slurry Vac, which allows us to keep control of the concrete slurry, created during the coring process.
They then began to drill the hole. While drilling, our team members encountered quite a lot of excess steel, which took longer than anticipated to drill.
At Perfect Concrete Care team members have all the necessary tickets and inductions to carry out works on major infrastructure projects, give us a call today on 0452 249 273 to discuss further.
