The coast is harder on concrete than the city
Salt air, humidity and heat push chloride into the cover and start the reinforcement rusting years earlier than it would inland. On the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast we regularly see spalling on buildings barely twenty years old, usually where the cover to the steel was thin to start with.
That changes the repair. Patching over corroding steel near the coast buys a season. Cutting back to sound concrete, treating the reinforcement and using a mortar rated for the exposure class is what makes it last.
What we do up here
Concrete cancer and spalling. Survey and hammer tap first so you get the real extent, not a guess. Break out, treat the steel, reinstate with the right mortar.
Crack injection. Epoxy where the crack is structural and needs to be welded back together, polyurethane where it moves or leaks.
Carpark and podium decks. Shopping centres, apartment podiums and basements, working around trading hours and live traffic.
Balcony and facade repairs. Including the edge and soffit work that gets missed.
Joint sealing and expansion joints.
Floor grinding, polishing and reseal for warehouses and distribution centres through the Yatala and Ipswich corridors.
Working on live assets
Most of what we do up here is on buildings that stay open. Retail keeps trading, the carpark keeps taking cars, the apartments stay occupied. We stage the work, keep the dust and noise controlled, and hand the area back clean at the end of each shift. Night and weekend shifts where the asset needs it.
Where we work from
Brisbane is the base. Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast and the Tweed are all a normal day for the crew, not a travel job. Further north into regional Queensland we quote case by case.
Questions we get asked
Do you charge travel to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast?
No. Both are inside our normal Queensland working area.
Can you work while the building stays open?
Yes, that is most of our work. We stage it around trading hours and keep the area safe and clean between shifts.
Do you do the engineering assessment?
No. We work to your engineer or consultant's scope and they verify the finished repair. We will tell you what we are seeing on site, but we do not mark our own homework.
