Concrete Cutter and Cutting Specialist Jobs

  • Concrete cutter and saw operator
  • NSW, QLD and WA
  • Full time
  • AU work rights required
Apply now, takes 2 minutes

We are hiring concrete cutters and saw operators. Road saw, wall saw, ring saw and hand saw work on commercial, civil and industrial sites in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.

Experienced operators first, but if you have run a saw anywhere and you want to get onto the bigger gear, put your hand up. We would rather train someone good than wait for the perfect CV.

Fill in the form below and someone will ring you back within one business day. It takes about two minutes. The more you tell us about your tickets and your inductions, the faster we can put you on a job.

    The basics

One minute. Seven quick answers, then a second page about your experience.

We are hiring in NSW, QLD and WA, including FIFO mining work out of Perth. Pick "Anywhere in Australia" if you will travel.
You must already have the right to work in Australia. We are not able to sponsor visas.
Pick the closest one. The next questions change to match.
PDF or Word, up to 5MB. If you do not have one on your phone, submit anyway and reply to our email with it.

    Your experience

The more you tick, the better we can match you to a job.

    References and availability

Optional now, we will ask when we call you. A work reference or a character reference, name, company and phone.
Fly-in fly-out, drive-in drive-out, or away for a stint. The away jobs usually pay better.
Pick the one that suits you best right now. Regional NSW, regional Queensland and remote sites are all on the list.

A few lines is fine. Real employers and real jobs, because this is what we search when a role comes up.

    What the work is

    • Road sawing on live roads, car parks and slabs, often at night or in restricted hours.
    • Wall sawing and ring sawing through walls, lift shafts and stair penetrations.
    • Hand sawing, quick cuts and chasing where access is tight.
    • Wire sawing on the heavier jobs, working alongside the specialist crew.
    • Reading a mark up, checking with the scan before you cut, and knowing when to stop and ask.
    • Slurry control and water management, because on most of our jobs somebody is working underneath you.

    Tickets and experience

Tell us what you actually hold. Missing a couple is not a problem.

    • White Card, and a concrete cutting or construction background.
    • Experience on any of road saw, wall saw, ring saw, hand saw or wire saw. Name the ones you have run.
    • Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP or a machine ticket if you have them.
    • Silica awareness and current respiratory fit testing.
    • Live Tier 1 inductions are a real advantage, particularly Sydney Metro, Sydney Trains and Sydney Water.
    • A driver licence and your own way to site.

    Silica and how we work

Silica is the one that matters in this trade. Everything runs wet or on extraction, you get fit tested, and if a job cannot be done safely we stop and sort it out. We are not interested in anyone who works dry to save five minutes.

    What it pays

Pay depends on experience and tickets. Tell us what you are on and we will be straight with you. Travel work pays more, and there is interstate work for people who want it. People tend to stay with us once they start: the crew is energetic, dedicated and good to work alongside, and we back them.

    Other names for this job

Companies label this role differently and so do candidates. If your last job was called concrete cutter, concrete sawing operator, road saw operator, wall saw operator, wire saw operator, concrete saw cutter, diamond cutting operator, concrete cutting specialist, saw cutting operator or ring saw operator, and the work matches what is above, this is the same job. We hire on what you can do on the tools, not on the title.

What we are like to work for

We are a young business and we are growing. That is the honest pitch. It means the structure is not set in concrete, there is room to move up if you are any good, and the person who decides is not six layers away from site. We buy decent gear, we back people who bring a better way of doing something, and safety is not a poster in the lunch room.

    Work rights

You need the right to work in Australia. We do not sponsor visas and we do not charge anyone a fee to apply or to be placed, ever. If someone asks you for money to get a job with us, it is not us.

    What happens after you apply

    • You get an email straight away confirming we have your application.
    • Someone rings you within one business day, on the mobile number you give us.
    • If you did not attach a CV, reply to that confirmation email with it. It is the fastest way to get in front of us.
    • We keep your details on file. Even if there is nothing today, we come back to people when the right job lands.

    Where we work

We run out of Marrickville in Sydney and Slacks Creek in Queensland, with crews across greater Sydney, the Hunter, Wollongong, Canberra and South East Queensland, and we travel for the bigger jobs. Western Australia work is starting up too, so put your hand up on the form if you would fly out of Perth.

We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians and Elders past, present and future, and honour their connection to the land and ongoing contribution to society.
