Concrete Cutting Offsider and Trade Assistant Jobs

  • Cutting offsider, no cutting experience needed
  • NSW, QLD and WA
  • White Card required
  • AU work rights required
Apply now, takes 2 minutes

We are hiring offsiders and trade assistants for our concrete cutting crews in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.

You do not need cutting experience for this one. You need a White Card, you need to turn up, and you need to want to get onto the tools. Most of our operators started as offsiders and we would rather grow our own than hire someone else's problems.

Fill in the form below and someone will ring you back within one business day. It takes about two minutes. The more you tell us about your tickets and your inductions, the faster we can put you on a job.

    The basics

One minute. Seven quick answers, then a second page about your experience.

We are hiring in NSW, QLD and WA, including FIFO mining work out of Perth. Pick "Anywhere in Australia" if you will travel.
You must already have the right to work in Australia. We are not able to sponsor visas.
Pick the closest one. The next questions change to match.
PDF or Word, up to 5MB. If you do not have one on your phone, submit anyway and reply to our email with it.

    Your experience

The more you tick, the better we can match you to a job.

    References and availability

Optional now, we will ask when we call you. A work reference or a character reference, name, company and phone.
Fly-in fly-out, drive-in drive-out, or away for a stint. The away jobs usually pay better.
Pick the one that suits you best right now. Regional NSW, regional Queensland and remote sites are all on the list.

A few lines is fine. Real employers and real jobs, because this is what we search when a role comes up.

    What the work is

    • Setting up and packing down the gear, managing hoses, leads, water and power.
    • Slurry control, vacuuming, and keeping the work area clean and safe.
    • Spotting for the operator and holding the exclusion zone.
    • Moving and handling cut sections and cores.
    • Learning the saws. Once you are steady you go on the tools properly.
    • Night work and restricted hours on some jobs. Those are usually the better paid ones.

    What we need from you

This is the one role where we care more about attitude than paperwork.

    • White Card. That is the only ticket you genuinely must have to start.
    • Reliable, on time, and able to take direction on a live site.
    • Reasonably fit. The gear is heavy and the days are real.
    • A driver licence and your own way to site.
    • Silica awareness and fit testing, which we sort out if you do not have it.
    • Any construction or labouring background at all is a plus, but not a requirement.

    Where it leads

Offsider is the way into the trade here. Learn the gear, get your tickets, and you go onto the saws. We put people through training when the work justifies it, and several of our operators came through exactly this path.

    Silica and how we work

Silica is the one that matters in this trade. Everything runs wet or on extraction, you get fit tested, and if a job cannot be done safely we stop and sort it out. We are not interested in anyone who works dry to save five minutes.

    What it pays

Pay depends on experience and tickets. Tell us what you are on and we will be straight with you. Travel work pays more, and there is interstate work for people who want it. People tend to stay with us once they start: the crew is energetic, dedicated and good to work alongside, and we back them.

    Other names for this job

Companies label this role differently and so do candidates. If your last job was called concrete cutting offsider, trades assistant, TA, offsider, concrete cutter assistant, labourer concrete cutting, apprentice concrete cutter, core drilling assistant, construction labourer or entry level concrete cutting job, and the work matches what is above, this is the same job. We hire on what you can do on the tools, not on the title.

What we are like to work for

We are a young business and we are growing. That is the honest pitch. It means the structure is not set in concrete, there is room to move up if you are any good, and the person who decides is not six layers away from site. We buy decent gear, we back people who bring a better way of doing something, and safety is not a poster in the lunch room.

    Work rights

You need the right to work in Australia. We do not sponsor visas and we do not charge anyone a fee to apply or to be placed, ever. If someone asks you for money to get a job with us, it is not us.

    What happens after you apply

    • You get an email straight away confirming we have your application.
    • Someone rings you within one business day, on the mobile number you give us.
    • If you did not attach a CV, reply to that confirmation email with it. It is the fastest way to get in front of us.
    • We keep your details on file. Even if there is nothing today, we come back to people when the right job lands.

    Where we work

We run out of Marrickville in Sydney and Slacks Creek in Queensland, with crews across greater Sydney, the Hunter, Wollongong, Canberra and South East Queensland, and we travel for the bigger jobs. Western Australia work is starting up too, so put your hand up on the form if you would fly out of Perth.

We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians and Elders past, present and future, and honour their connection to the land and ongoing contribution to society.
