The cut is the easy part

What separates a clean job from an expensive one is what happens before the blade goes in. Post tension cables, conduits, hydraulic lines and reinforcement all live inside that slab, and hitting any of them turns a two hour job into a claim.

So we scan first. Every penetration on a suspended slab gets GPR scanned and marked, and we will tell you if the location you have picked is not safe to cut and where it should move to.

    What we cut

Most of our work is penetrations for services in live buildings, plus opening up slabs and walls for stairs, lifts and plant. Wire sawing comes in when the section is too thick or awkward for a wall saw, typically bridge and heavy industrial work.

    • Wall sawing for door and window openings, up to deep sections
    • Road and floor sawing for trenches, joints and slab removal
    • Wire sawing for thick or heavily reinforced sections
    • Core drilling for services, anchors, balustrades and test cores
    • Hand sawing and ring sawing in tight or confined spaces

    Post tension and scanning

If the slab is post tensioned, cutting a cable is not a repair, it is a structural event. We scan, mark and where needed provide the scan record so your engineer can sign off the location before we start.

On older buildings the drawings are often wrong or missing, so scanning is the only reliable way to know what is in there.

    Working in live buildings

Dust and water are the two things that get cutting crews thrown off site. We run vacuum shrouded gear where dust matters, manage and contain slurry rather than letting it run, and protect finishes and lifts on the way in and out.

Most of this work happens at night or on weekends because that is when the building can give us the space.

    Shutdowns and emergencies

We mobilise for fixed shutdown windows where the program cannot slip, and we take emergency cutting when something has to be opened up fast. Tell us the deadline and we will be straight with you about whether we can hit it.

To price it quickly: Send the size and thickness, whether the slab is suspended or on ground, and whether it is post tensioned if you know. Those three things get you a firm number fastest.

    Questions we get asked

    Do you scan before cutting?

Yes, on every penetration in a suspended slab. It is cheaper than the alternative and we will not cut blind.

Can you cut without making a mess?

We use vacuum shrouded and dust free gear where needed and contain slurry on wet cutting. On finished spaces we protect the area before we start.

    How deep can you cut?

Wall saws handle most sections, and where they cannot we bring the wire saw. Tell us the thickness and we will tell you the method.

    Can you work overnight?

Most of our cutting is out of hours. It suits both sides, the building keeps running and we get clear access.

What if the drawings are wrong?

Common on older buildings. The scan is what we work off, not the drawings, and we mark up what we actually find.

    Need something cut or cored?

Send the details and we will price it. If it is urgent, call and we will tell you honestly what we can do.
