Rail Shutdown Cutting and Coring
Cutting and coring inside track possessions, where the window is fixed, the paperwork is serious and the railway has to be handed back on time no matter what.
- ✓Rail inducted crews with current tickets
- ✓Work planned to the minute of the possession
- ✓Cutting, coring and demolition in the corridor
- ✓Dust and slurry controlled near track and signalling
- ✓Australia wide, metro and regional rail
Rail does not do overruns
A track possession is the most unforgiving window in construction. It is booked months out, it costs a fortune, and it ends at a time that does not move. If your cutting contractor is still working when the possession closes, that is not a schedule problem, it is an incident.
The contractors who do this well are not the ones with the biggest saws. They are the ones who plan to the minute, arrive with everything staged, and build in enough contingency that one broken blade does not become a hand back failure.
What we do in the corridor
- Platform and coping cutting
- Slab, footing and plinth removal
- Coring for services, signalling and overhead wiring foundations
- Cutting around live services and cabling
- Demolition of redundant structures within the corridor
- Works alongside possession and protection teams
The compliance that comes with rail
Rail inductions, competency cards, protection officers, exclusion from live track, restricted plant, and permits that must be issued and closed. None of it is negotiable and all of it takes time, which is why we build it into the plan rather than the price contingency.
Slurry and dust control matters more here than almost anywhere, because signalling equipment and ballast contamination are both expensive mistakes.
What good planning looks like
A full walk before the possession. Everything staged and tested the day before. Spare blades, spare pumps, spare people. A sequence with named hold points and an agreed abort time, so if something goes wrong there is a plan that still hands the track back safely.
Frequently asked
Are your crews rail inducted?
Yes, with current tickets, and we plan induction lead times into the program.
Can you work multiple faces in one possession?
Usually yes, and on tight windows that is exactly how the work gets finished. It depends on access and protection.
How far ahead should we book?
As soon as your possession is confirmed. The planning is the job on rail work.
Regional rail?
Yes, we travel. Regional possessions often suit us better because we can mobilise for the whole window.
Possession booked?
Send the dates and scope early. Rail work is won in the planning, not on the night.
