Bridge Deck and Road Sawing
Full depth sawing on bridge decks, pavements and road corridors, worked into night possessions and traffic staging so the road opens on time in the morning.
- ✓Bridge deck full depth sawing and removal
- ✓Road and pavement sawing, joint cutting
- ✓Night possessions and traffic staged works
- ✓Wire sawing where depth beats a road saw
- ✓Crews used to road authority specifications
On road work the clock is the client
Road and bridge sawing is rarely limited by the cutting itself. It is limited by the possession window. You get the lanes from ten at night until five in the morning, and whatever has not been cut, lifted and made safe by then becomes a problem for everyone.
So we plan these jobs backwards from the reopening time, bring enough saw capacity to finish inside the window rather than just enough to start, and keep the removal and make-safe running alongside the cutting instead of after it.
What we cut
- Bridge deck sections for replacement or widening
- Full depth pavement cutting and slab removal
- Expansion joint cutting and reinstatement preparation
- Kerb, channel and median removal
- Parapet and barrier cutting
- Deep sections where a road saw runs out of depth and a wire saw takes over
Working inside a possession
Everything is staged before the lanes close: saws fuelled and bladed, spare blades on site, removal plant positioned, lighting set, spoil route agreed. The cutting starts within minutes of possession rather than after an hour of setting up.
We work to the traffic management plan rather than around it, and our supervisors talk to the traffic crew as a matter of course.
Why depth changes the method
A road saw has a practical depth limit. Beyond it, people either cut from both sides and hope the kerfs meet, or they bring a wire saw. Wire sawing handles heavy reinforcement and deep sections cleanly, and on bridge decks it usually produces a better edge for the reinstatement.
Frequently asked
Can you work to road authority specs?
Yes, and our documentation is written for that review rather than adapted afterwards.
Do you provide traffic control?
We coordinate with your traffic management contractor, and can arrange it as part of the package if you prefer one contract.
How deep can you cut?
Road saws handle typical pavement depths. Beyond that we wire saw, which has effectively no depth limit for this kind of work.
Interstate and regional?
Yes. Bridge and road work travels, and we price mobilisation openly.
Possession coming up?
Send the dates and the scope. Sawing planned around a window beats sawing squeezed into one.
