Structural Engineer, Concrete Repair Jobs

  • Structural engineer, contractor side
  • Sydney and Brisbane, one role each
  • Full time
  • AU work rights required
Apply now, takes 2 minutes

We are hiring structural engineers who want to work on the contractor side of concrete repair and structural cutting. Sydney and Brisbane, one role in each.

This is not a design office job. It is checking that the coping beam can come out the way we plan to cut it, that the slab will carry the load once the penetration goes in, that the strengthening the consultant drew will actually go on the concrete in front of you, and then making it happen with the crew.

Fill in the form below and someone will ring you back within one business day. It takes about two minutes. Attach a CV if you have one handy, and tell us which city.

    The basics

One minute. Seven quick answers, then a second page about your experience.

We are hiring in NSW, QLD and WA, including FIFO mining work out of Perth. Pick "Anywhere in Australia" if you will travel.
You must already have the right to work in Australia. We are not able to sponsor visas.
Pick the closest one. The next questions change to match.
PDF or Word, up to 5MB. If you do not have one on your phone, submit anyway and reply to our email with it.

    Your experience

The more you tick, the better we can match you to a job.

    References and availability

Optional now, we will ask when we call you. A work reference or a character reference, name, company and phone.
Fly-in fly-out, drive-in drive-out, or away for a stint. The away jobs usually pay better.
Pick the one that suits you best right now. Regional NSW, regional Queensland and remote sites are all on the list.

A few lines is fine. Real employers and real jobs, because this is what we search when a role comes up.

    What the work is

    • Reviewing consultant designs for cutting, penetrations, strengthening and repairs, and turning them into a safe method on site.
    • Temporary works and propping checks before structural cuts, coping beam removals, footing modification and pile head work.
    • Post tensioned structures: scan interpretation, tendon location, and the cut plan that keeps everyone safe.
    • Carbon fibre and FRP strengthening supervision, substrate preparation and testing.
    • Concrete repair specifications and ITPs, and the engineer sign off at the end.
    • Estimating and methodology support for the sales team on complex jobs where the method is the win.

    Qualifications and experience

Tell us what you actually hold. Missing one or two is not a problem.

    • Bachelor of Structural or Civil Engineering. CPEng or working towards it is a bonus.
    • Three years or more of structural experience, ideally with time on site or with a remedial or demolition contractor.
    • Comfortable reading post tensioning drawings and scan reports.
    • White Card. Working at Heights and Confined Space are useful.
    • A driver licence. This role lives on site more than in the office.

Where the roles are and what it pays

Two roles are open now, one in Sydney working out of Marrickville and one in Brisbane working out of Slacks Creek. A Perth role is coming as the Western Australia work starts up, so if Perth is home, apply now and say so on the form. Pay depends on experience. Tell us what you are on and we will be straight with you. Travel work pays more, and there is interstate work for people who want it. People tend to stay with us once they start: the crew is energetic, dedicated and good to work alongside, and we back them.

    Other names for this job

Companies label this role differently and so do candidates. If your last job was called structural engineer, structural repair engineer, remedial structural engineer, concrete repair engineer, structural remediation engineer, remedial engineer, concrete remediation engineer, strengthening engineer or structural project engineer, and the work matches what is above, this is the same job. We hire on what you have run and delivered, not on the title.

What we are like to work for

We are a young business and we are growing. That is the honest pitch. The work is the complex end of concrete: coping beam removals, pile and footing modification, tunnel and rail shutdown cutting, post tensioned structures, carbon fibre strengthening and concrete repairs on live buildings and Tier 1 infrastructure. The structure is not set, there is room to move up if you are any good, and the person who decides is not six layers away from site. We buy decent gear, we back people who bring a better way of doing something, and safety is not a poster in the lunch room.

    Work rights

You need the right to work in Australia. We do not sponsor visas and we do not charge anyone a fee to apply or to be placed, ever. If someone asks you for money to get a job with us, it is not us.

    What happens after you apply

    • You get an email straight away confirming we have your application.
    • Someone rings you within one business day, on the mobile number you give us.
    • If you did not attach a CV, reply to that confirmation email with it. It is the fastest way to get in front of us.
    • We keep your details on file. Even if there is nothing today, we come back to people when the right job lands.

    Other engineering roles

The same opening can suit more than one title. See also Project Engineer, Concrete Remediation jobs, Remedial Engineer jobs. All Concrete Care roles are on the Work With Us page.
