The job
Agrichem makes liquid fertilisers at its plant in Yatala, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The site runs every day, with trucks, forklifts and product moving through the driveways and warehouses, so when the concrete needs fixing it has to be done quickly and around the operation.
Perfect Concrete Care has been Agrichem's go to crew for concrete floor repairs at the site since early 2025. Each visit is short and specific: a slab replacement, a joint repair, a few cores, a grind. This page covers five of those visits between February 2025 and March 2026.

What the concrete floor repairs involved
- In February 2025, a old patch in the driveway between two sheds saw cut and broken out, steel mesh set in, then poured with 55 MPa concrete and broom finished
- In March 2025, about 10 metres of damaged expansion joint in the shed patched with a repair mortar, then re-cut through the patch, backing rod in and sealed
- In June 2025, another damaged joint in the warehouse cut out and reinstated
- In February 2026, four small core drilled holes in the warehouse floor for new equipment
- In March 2026, an old seal ground off the loading apron outside a roller door, with a breaker for the stubborn areas

What made it hard
It is a working chemical plant. The crew followed the site's permits and inductions, worked inside coned and taped zones, and kept the driveways and warehouse aisles open for forklifts and trucks.
Every job was small and time boxed. The slab replacement, joint repairs and coring each had to be finished in a day or less so the area could go back into use, which meant turning up with exactly the right gear and materials.
The floors carry forklifts and heavy product all day. Repairs had to be done with high strength concrete and proper joint detailing so they last under that traffic.

How it was done
For the driveway, the crew measured the old patch, saw cut it square, broke it out to sound concrete, set mesh in and poured 55 MPa concrete with a broom finish for grip. The rest of the driveway stayed open.
For the joints, the damaged edges were cut back and patched with a repair mortar, then the joint was re-cut through the patch the next visit, a backing rod put in and the joint sealed, so it can still move without breaking the edges again.

Outcome
Each visit was closed off within a day or two, with the area handed back to the plant. Agrichem keeps calling the same crew back when something new comes up, which is the best feedback a repair contractor can get.
Lessons learned on this job
Every job teaches the crew something. These are the ones we took from Yatala.
What worked
- Small, well planned visits that fit around the plant instead of one big shutdown
- High strength concrete and mesh for slab repairs in trafficked driveways
- Patching joint edges first, then re-cutting and sealing the joint, so the repair can move
What was difficult
- Working inside an operating chemical plant with forklifts and trucks moving around
- Getting each repair done inside a tight window
- Floors that take heavy traffic the moment the cones come away
