Perfect Concrete Care delivered Stage 2 of the Platform 2 demolition works at Roma Street Station in Brisbane, under the CBGU D&C JV. This project demonstrates our capability to perform precision demolition in a live rail environment, where safety, control, and sequencing are paramount.
Scope of Works
The Stage 2 program includes:
- Demolition of reinforced concrete and block walls at concourse level
- Pile cropping at the mid-level staircase landing
- Mass cutting and controlled removal of concrete
- Progressive load-out via electric dumpers into sealed skip bins
Our Approach
We deployed the Brokk 200 with hammer and crusher, supported by precision cutting tools, electric dumpers, dust scrubbers, and water suppression systems. This combination enables us to:
- Maintain safe access at all times
- Protect live services
- Minimise vibration, dust, and noise
Careful sequencing kept the demolition moving without disruption to station operations, while protecting both the public and rail infrastructure.

Follow on work at Platform 2
After Stage 2 the crew stayed on for smaller Platform 2 packages. From October 2025 to February 2026 we saw cut a services trench along the Platform 2 side for new conduits. In March 2026 we demolished the ceilings and walls of the Platform 2 temporary substation inside a hoarded silica dust zone, broke the wall linings back and carted the waste to our yard. Lessons learned on this job
Every job teaches the crew something. These are the ones we took from Platform 2.
What worked
- A Brokk 200 with hammer and crusher, so the breaking was done by remote control with the operator standing clear and vibration kept low
- Water suppression and HEPA air scrubbers together, so dust stayed inside the work zone in a station that never closed
- Electric dumpers into sealed skips, so load out ran quietly on night shift
What was difficult
- Short night shift windows beside a live busway and platform
- Live services running through the walls and slabs that had to stay protected the whole time
Outcome
Stage 2 was delivered safely and in line with project requirements, with materials segregated for recycling. The Platform 2 demolition works ran through to April 2026.
