What we cut on the Sunshine Coast

Wall sawing. Door, window and lift openings, wall penetrations for ducts and services, and full wall removals, cut with a track mounted wall saw to 520 millimetres deep. Clean edges, no overcuts into the structure you are keeping.

Floor and slab sawing. Trenches for plumbing and electrical, slab sections for removal, expansion joints and saw cuts for a new pour. Where the slab is suspended we scan it first so the saw does not find a conduit or a cable.

Road sawing. Kerb and gutter, pavement and rail corridor cuts from 25 to 500 millimetres, petrol or electric depending on the site.

Hand and ring sawing. Brick and block walls, small openings, tight corners and anywhere a big saw will not fit. Ring saws take a small cut to 270 millimetres in one pass.

Penetrations, coring and post tension. Round holes are core drilling. Cutting through a post tensioned slab is tendon truncation and needs an engineer. Both sit with the same crew, so the scan, the cut and the strengthening are one job.

Wire sawing. Very thick, heavily reinforced or steel members and large structural sections are wire sawing, which is done by our sister company DeconCut. We refer those jobs across and the two crews work together where a project needs both.

How we cut

Every job starts with what is inside the concrete. On suspended slabs and structural walls we scan before the blade goes anywhere near it. Then the right saw for the job: Husqvarna, Stihl, Hilti and Tyrolit hand saws and ring saws for small work, hydraulic saws where there is no power, electric saws indoors, and the Tyrolit WSE1217 track mounted wall saw for deep, straight, precise openings. Water on the blade keeps the dust down and the slurry is vacuumed and removed, not left in the drain.

You get a SWMS before we start, a supervisor on site, cut pieces removed or lowered safely, and a clean edge ready for the next trade. If the cut piece is heavy we plan the lift and the removal path before the first cut, not after.

Before you ask for a price

Three things set the number. Thickness and reinforcement, because a 150 millimetre slab and a 500 millimetre wall are different saws and different days. Whether the slab is post tensioned or suspended, which decides the scanning and the engineering. And access, power and hours, because a clear site with power on a weekday is faster than a live hospital corridor at night. What we do not do

We do not do residential driveways, backyard slabs or handyman jobs, and we do not hire out saws or blades. Wire sawing and heavy industrial cuts go to DeconCut. Common questions

Do you cut driveways or do small jobs for homeowners on the Sunshine Coast?

No. We work for builders, plumbers, electricians, fit out contractors, facilities managers and head contractors on commercial, industrial and infrastructure sites. A driveway or a backyard slab is better served by a local handyman or a hire saw.

How deep can you cut?

Hand saws and ring saws take small and medium cuts to about 270 millimetres. Our track mounted wall saw cuts to 520 millimetres through walls and floors. Road saws cut from 25 to 500 millimetres. Anything past that, or through heavy steel, is wire sawing and goes to our sister company DeconCut.

Can you cut inside a live building?

Yes. Electric and hydraulic saws for indoor work, water on the blade to control dust, slurry vacuumed and removed, and the area sealed off. We work after hours and in stages so a hospital, an office or a shop keeps operating.

What about post tension slabs?

We scan first. If the cut can avoid the tendons we mark and cut around them. If it cannot, the job becomes tendon truncation, which needs an engineer to specify the strengthening, and we do that as one job.
