Coping Beam Removal, Structural Openings and Heavy Cutting on the Gold Coast
Structural cutting on the Gold Coast: Capping beams, columns, lift shafts and pile caps, cut to plan
- Scan first, then cut to the engineer's marks
- Wall saw, track saw and core drilling in one cut plan
- Propping and crane lifts arranged with the builder
- Slurry and dust controlled on live sites
Capping and coping beams, beams and columns, lift shaft openings, footings and pile caps: the cutting jobs on the Gold Coast that need a wall saw, a track saw and a core rig on the one job, cut to the engineer's plan.

The jobs a one van operator cannot do
A capping beam over a retaining wall, a 20 m beam between two buildings or an opening through a metre of reinforced concrete is not a hand saw job. It is propped first, cored at the corners so nothing overcuts, and lifted out in pieces the crane can take. That needs one crew with the saws, core rigs and scanner on site together.
What we cut and remove on the Gold Coast
- Coping and capping beam removal on retaining walls, platforms and shaft heads, and upstand walls out in pieces sized for the lift.
- Beam and column removal, finished flush to the soffit with the wall saw mounted inverted.
- Large openings: lift shafts, stair and escalator voids and oversized penetrations through thick walls.
- Footing, pile cap and ground beam modification, and cores through piles and pile caps for anchors, dowels and tie bars.
- Precast and tilt panel cutting, freeing panels for the crane, and coping cutbacks so new precast panels fit.
How the work runs
- Scope from the drawings or a site walk: thickness, reinforcement, post tensioning, access and power.
- Scan with the Hilti PS1000 GPR and mark rebar, cables and conduits before a blade touches the concrete.
- SWMS to the builder, the engineer's cut plan in hand, propping in before any cut.
- Core the corners and the lifting points, then saw between the cores: wall saw for the straight cuts, track saw for sectioning slabs, ring and hand saws to finish. On a beam, leave the last of the cut until the crane has the weight.
- Lift or lower the piece: crane or excavator arranged with the builder, block and tackle, or hand sized sections where there is no lift.
- Water on the blade for silica control, slurry vacuumed and bunded, HEPA extraction where water is not acceptable.
Plant on the job
Tyrolit WSE1217 track mounted wall saw to 520 mm. Road saws to 500 mm. Ring saws to 270 mm and hand saws to finish. Hilti and Weka core rigs from 25 mm to 1000 mm, with stitch coring past a metre. A Brokk remote machine works alongside the saws where needed. Members past 520 mm, heavy steel and large wire sawing are handled by our DeconCut team.
Paperwork the head contractor wants
SWMS, inductions and ITPs go into your systems. Lift plans are arranged with the builder and the crane crew, propping is checked against the engineer's plan, and each stage is photographed. We work on live sites on the Gold Coast: rail possessions with RIW carded crews, hospitals, occupied towers and night shifts. Perfect Concrete Care is part of Perfect Group, with the insurance and licences a Tier 1 contractor expects.
Where we work on the Gold Coast
Structural cutting on the Gold Coast runs across Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach towers, Robina and Varsity Lakes, the Gold Coast University Hospital precinct, Helensvale and Coomera, Burleigh and Coolangatta, and the rail corridors and podium car parks along the coast.
The Gold Coast is under an hour from our Slacks Creek base, so staged night works are easy to staff and the crew can come back for the engineer inspection between stages.
Queensland work on the books includes a 12 m reinforced capping beam cut into 4 m blocks at Roma Street Station for the CBGU JV on Cross River Rail and zero overcut wall penetrations at level B3.5 of Roma Street Station for Cross River Rail. To be plain, the rest of the coping beam and heavy cutting work on the books is in New South Wales: a capping beam and wall section cut together in Wahroonga for Novati and craned out, platform coping edge cutbacks at Leura Station for Continuum Alliance ahead of new precast panels and a 1 m thick shaft wall opened by stitch coring for John Holland in Mascot.
Frequently asked
Do you work for domestic clients on the Gold Coast?
No. Commercial structures only, for head contractors, builders, civil and rail contractors and structural engineers.
Who supplies the cut plan and the propping?
Your structural engineer. We work to the engineer's cut plan and sequence and hold for inspection where asked. We do not supply engineering or sign off temporary works.
How thick can you cut?
The wall saw cuts to 520 mm and stitch coring takes an opening through members past a metre thick. Beyond that, large wire sawing is handled by our DeconCut team.
Do you cut pile heads down to level?
No. Cutting pile heads down to cut off level sits with our sister company Perfect Strip Out. We core through piles, pile caps and ground beams.
Other areas and related services
We also do structural cutting in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast. Hub: concrete cutting. Related on the Gold Coast: concrete cutting, core drilling, concrete scanning and post tensioned slab cutting.
Road sawing by city
Road, kerb, asphalt and trench sawing has its own page for each area we cover, with the local number and the corridors, estates and council areas we work in. Road sawing in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
